ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
Coal Point Public School as opened by the Hon R Heffron, MLA on the 19 November 1955. It is situated on the shores of Lake Macquarie, which is a picturesque area with a mild climate.
Our grounds are terraced and expansive providing a variety of surfaces for outdoor activities. The buildings vary from a brick Administration Block, modern Library and Computer Room to more traditional wood-clad classrooms.
We take pride in delivering excellence in education. We have strong traditions of caring for and nurturing our students and an impressive history of outstanding results. Our committed staff strive to obtain the best possible outcomes for all.
The school endeavours to maintain the community's high expectations of achievement and emphasises literacy and numeracy where results in general are higher than state average.
The school's constitution guides practice and states everyone has:
- the right to be safe
- the right to learn
- the right to be treated fairly
- the responsibility to care for others and their property
- the responsibility to try one's best.
While the school is dedicated to ensuring that all students have a thorough grounding in 'the basics' it also caters for the many students who are gifted and talented.
